
Alessio was born in Florence and is 34 years old. He works primarily in the UK, Italy and
the Middle East. He has been working in the film industry since 1999 and his works have
been shown in cinemas and TV worldwide.
His first film Rahil’s Secret was released in the USA, Canada and Puerto Rico by Vanguard
Cinema in 2007. His second feature film, the controversial Shooting Silvio, was distributed
by 20th Century Fox in 2008. In recent years he has worked on a variety of international
projects.
Girls on the Air, a documentary film shot in Afghanistan, was nominated best film at IDFA
2009 in Amsterdam and was distributed by Cinecittà Luce. Daspu, filmed in Brazil, was
broadcast by GNT Globosat. One of us, an insight into Italian society, was broadcast by Arte
TV and presented at IDFA 2012. In 2011 he worked on three UK feature films: How to
Stop Being a Loser, Airborne and The Reverend.
Alessio has also worked for agencies such as Ogilvy and filmed web commercials for Sony
and Vogue online magazines. He has received awards for best cinematographer at Yellow
Fever Film Festival in Belfast (2010) for Seeing Heaven and at MIFF in Milan (2011) for
Days of Harvest, both feature films.
Recent work includes a documentary about the oldest Italian circus dynasty, Circo Togni,
and an art film installation by Lasse Lau filmed in the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, Cairo.
He has been lecturing at the SAE Jordan Institute in Amman in the last few months.
He is now available for work.
Alessio has been a member of AIC (Italian Association of Cinematographic Photography
Authors) since 2009.
