‘CIRCLE. A long life journey’ is the story of Togni’s family, the oldest dynasty of circus in Italy and the most important one still active today. The story began in the 40 when Fiorenza, a polish dancer, fell in love of Darix Togni, the Italian lion timer. It was love at first sight. Together, Fiorenza and Darix ferried the circus into the modern age. Today, 87 years old Fiorenza with her sons and nephews, is ready for a new challenge. Like modern nomads, 60 artists from different country are about to live from Reggio Emilia (Italy) to Iran, going by boat and then trough Turkey by land, moving caravans, animals and equipment. This tour in Middle East will be one of the most challenging in the whole story of the Circus. CIRCLE is an observational documentary, where the past dialogue with the present, like a shot and his reverse shot. The journey to Iran is the narrative structure of the film while the images from the past will come out from Fiorenza’s memories sometimes with an historical value, sometimes in a more poetical way. Circle is a film about a family and their memories and its also a film about people crossing borders, challenges and love.
