how it all

started

Thank you for being here. Ever since Sony released the "1000" DV PAL Video camera at the end of the 90’s, I've been involved in numerous projects. In those years, budding cinematographers, including myself, chased the dream of working with cinema lenses. We often resorted to unconventional and makeshift systems to attach these lenses to relatively affordable digital cameras. Our goal was to make our footage resemble the classic film look. Interestingly during this period, Kodak film stocks were evolving to mimic the flatter and crisper aesthetics of digital imagery.

year 2004

On the set of our first feature in 2003 in Rome, I had the pleasure of working alongside Cinzia Bomoll. We filmed using the Panasonic DVX 100AE, coupled with the PS Technik adapter and paired with the superb super speed Zeiss 1.3 lenses. It was truly a dream setup for that era.

year 2007

On a bustling set in London, I embarked on shooting my first feature on Super 16mm. This venture marked a thrilling shift from years as a clapper loader, handling film stocks, to now directing the photography of a feature. Each frame captured was a blend of past learnings and present vision, a leap into the heart of cinematic storytelling

year 2006

On set of my second feature in 2005 in Rome, again we decided to shoot on the Panasonic DVX 100AE, coupled with the PS Technik adapter and paired with the superb super speed Zeiss 1.3 lenses. It was truly a dream setup for that era.

year 2008

My fourth feature was captured on a Canon camera equipped with Prime lenses. From this moment on, I felt a newfound confidence, ready to tackle any scenario that came my way. Accompanying me was my first camera assistant at the time, a reliable presence by my side
